Satpol PP Sterilizes Sidewalks from PKL in Jakarta

Jakarta Satpol PP deployed 50 personnel to sterilize sidewalks simultaneously in five administrative city areas starting in March 2024. They synergized with the army, police, Social Agency (Dinsos), Transportation Agency (Dishub), and Bina Marga Agency.

Patrol will keep being intensified

Operations Section Head for Bylaw Enforcement (Gakda), Ivand A Anugerah stated the operation is a form of enforcement of Bylaw Number 8/2007. We're more focused on sterilizing existing sidewalks in Jakarta, especially new sidewalks built by the Bina Marga Agency," he expressed, Wednesday (5/29).

He explained personnel gave a warning and recorded the street vendors selling on the sidewalk.

"Patrol will keep being intensified. We continue to urge them persuasively and humanely," he explained.

In the meantime, the operation today was focused on Jalan Bungur, Jalan Garuda, Pasar Senen to Jalan Kramat Raya. He also urged residents to jointly protect Jakarta by using sidewalks according to their function.

"Thus, people feel safe and comfortable walking on the sidewalk," he said.
